Christian Nationalists stoop to every dishonest trick in the book
in an effort to convince people that our Constitution and principles

So who really deserves the credit that they have stolen?

Women's suffrage was another slap in God's face.
That right is granted nowhere in the Bible.
But we overruled God's book and I don't think He'll be gettin' that one back.

John Adams wrote: History of the Principal Republics in the World:
A Defense of the Constitutions of Government of the United States of America

Volume 1: influence of Greece & Rome
Volume 2: secular renaissance Italian republics
Volume 3: precedent of British Commonwealth

John Adams said ...

"It will forever be acknowledged that these governments were contrived
merely by the use of reason and the senses.
 "

Luckily for Adams, he would die before Christians would mount a campaign of lies
designed to undermine everything that he, and the other Founding Fathers, stood for.
Here is one example of the devious lengths that modern Christians would go to
to convince the ignorant that the Founding Fathers intended a "Christian Nation."
They quote John Adams:

The general principles on which the fathers achieved Independence were …
the general principles of Christianity ….
"

They left out the rest of Adams' quote:
"AND the general principles of English and American liberty ...."

How utterly dishonest do you have to be, to do something like that?
That's not an accident; it's an intentional misrepresentation.

Jesus must be so proud of His little warriors

Here are 35 more quotes from the Founding Fathers that Conservative Christians hate

Why do Conservative Christians want the 10 Commandments displayed everywhere,
when no one, especially Conservative Christians, obeys any of them?

The First Amendment allows the worship of other gods or no god at all
in direct violation of God's first and foremost Commandment;
yet tens of millions of Americans ... do just that.

Making images and idols is not a crime;
in fact, Christians wear them all the time.
The biggest violator of that commandment ...
are the 10 Commandment monuments.

Taking God's name in vain is not a crime.
Why make it one now?
Aren't there more important laws that we need to pass
than laws designed to spare the feelings of invisible ghosts?

Tens of millions of people work on weekends.
If we enforce the death penalty on people who work weekends,
as per the 10 Commandments,
good luck finding a doctor or a cop if something goes wrong
at your weekend Redneck Barbecue in Texas
when Bubba, your Fox News Uncle, fires off a couple of errant rounds.

There is no penalty for failing to honor parents;
besides, Conservative Christian parents do not deserve to be honored.
So there goes almost half the population right there.

There is no law against envy.
In fact, it is one of the prime motivators of capitalism.

In the Bible, adultery is a capital offense;
our laws don't even classify it as a misdemeanor.

"Thou shalt not kill? "
Are you serious?
Who do you think murdered millions of Indians?
Who do you think lynched all those black people in the Bible Belt?
The one atheist guy?
Who do you think are the biggest supporters of the death penalty?
Who do you think are the biggest supporters of firearm ownership?
Who do you think are the most hawkish of all America's citizens?
Name the only country on Earth that is in a nearly constant state of war with other nations?
Hint: it's the largest Christian nation on Earth.

The only commandments we follow are the prohibitions against stealing and lying;
but even then, we allow exceptions to those commandments ...

in the case of politicians

"America is a Christian Nation."

Since nearly everyone in early America was Christian, then it was Christians who:

Killed millions of Indians, stole their land, and put them on reservations.
Enslaved millions of Africans, often beating and killing them.
Allowed the murder of thousands of women for witchcraft to go unpunished.
And refused to allow women the right to vote.

What a wonderful Christian heritage we have.

Now try to imagine American history ...
if its government had actually been a Christian government.

3/19/16

"America's Constitution is based on the 10 Commandments."

Then why are almost none of God's commandments followed?

The First Amendment allows the worship of other gods.
Making images and idols is not a crime.
In fact, Christians wear them all the time.
Taking God's name in vain is not a crime.
Millions of people work on weekends.
There is no penalty for failing to honor one's parents.
There is no law against envy.
In the Bible adultery is a capital offense.
Our laws don't even classify it as a misdemeanor.
Killing is allowed for executing criminals,
or people in other lands who are deemed enemies.

The only commandment we follow is the prohibition against stealing;
and even then we allow exceptions for stealing
if you are a member of the clergy or a politician.

God may have demanded that our new nation be based on His 10 Commandments,
but based on the Constitution written by our Founding Fathers,
it seems they chose instead, to kick Him right in His invisible nuts.

Oh, and one more thing that Christians won't like:
If the Constitution were based on the 10 Commandments,
that wouldn't make us a Christian nation ... but a Jewish nation.

(I don't think that one is going to go over very well ... in the South)

How can we be a Christian nation
when Conservative Christians do everything
exactly opposite to the teachings of Jesus Christ?

The poor (welfare)
The sick (health care)
The elderly (social security)
The gays (marriage equality)
atheists (freedom of religion)
Worldwide Warfare (military-industrial complex)
Biggest prison population (mercy)
Idols (10 commandments)
Public Prayer (Matthew 6:5)
Murdering doctors and bombing clinics (commandment #6)

Perhaps you could explain in what way ... we are a "Christian" nation?

The only way we might have ever been considered a Christian nation
was when we had slavery ... but we got rid of that.

"America is a Christian Nation? "

If that were true Americans wouldn't have freedom of religion
and freedom of speech as granted by the First Amendment.
Here is what the Bible says about the First Amendment:

Freedom of Religion from Exodus 20:3:
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

Freedom of Speech from Leviticus 24:16
"And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD,
he shall surely be put to death,
and all the congregation shall certainly stone him:
as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land,
when he blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shall be put to death.
"

Yet America was a nation comprised overwhelmingly of Christians.
It was they who created this secular government.
They did not want a Christian theocracy, but a secular democracy ...
and that is exactly what we have.

We can thank progressive Christians,
working with nonbelievers and other Christians,
for giving us what many other countries lack ... freedom of religion.

Here is some interesting background information
that explains when, why, and how, the current attack on America began ...
it was a coalition of Big Business and Conservative Christians

Conservative Christians worship God, a distant second behind ... greed.

"America is a Christian nation? "

You decide (5:02)

Yes, most Americans are Christian.
Most Americans are also women - are we a female nation?
Most Americans are also caucasian - are we a white nation?
Most Americans are not college graduates - are we a poorly-educated nation?
The average American has one testicle - are we a deformed nation?

America is famous for being the first nation in history
to write a secular constitution.
If Christians want to change that, they should be honest and say so,
rather than trying to make a claim that is easily disproven.
That tactic only exposes the dishonesty that pervades all aspects of their faith.

Annie Laurie Gaylor debates David Barton

TREATY OF TRIPOLI (Article 11)

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense,
founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity
against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen [Muslims],—
and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility
against any Mahometan [Muslim] nation,
it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions
shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.
"

The opening phrase of Article 11 of the Treaty of Tripoli is written so clearly
that you might think it would be impossible to debate over the meaning ...

but you would be wrong

In this debate, the apologist is confronted by Gaylor with the treaty's clear words.
Here's what the apologist does when faced with this irrefutable evidence:
he immediately tries to distract the audience
by focusing their attention on the next phrases in Article 11
which refer to the other parties in the treaty.
No matter what meaning one attaches to the rest of Article 11,
nothing in it negates the opening phrase;
it merely states that America harbors no bias
against the other members of the treaty.

So the apologist takes the position that the phrases following the first one
prove that America was founded as a Christian nation!
If his position were true then why was the first phrase,
stating exactly the opposite, left in?
And why did President Adams and Congress
unanimously ratify every clause and article in it?

What do you think Jefferson, Adams, and Washington would do to Barton
if they could have just 5 minutes alone with him?

(hint: google "quartering").

Was America founded as a "Christian Nation?"

I have never seen a more dishonest man in my life than David Barton.
And considering I deal with Creationists ... that's quite a statement.

An interesting note: 8 years later a second treaty superseded the first
and guess what happened?
Yep, they bowed to intense Christian pressure and deleted that phrase.
(some things never change)

If that doesn't sound familiar, it should:
a similar thing happened to Darwin,
who deeply regretted giving in to Christian pressure
by adding the word 'Creator' to later editions of "On the Origin of Species."

Lemon v. Kurtzman

"the ‘establishment of religion’ clause of the First Amendment means at least this:
Neither a state nor the Federal Government ... can pass laws
which aid one religion, aid all religions, or prefer one religion over another.
 "

The Lemon Test - the requirements for legislation concerning religion consists of three prongs:
1. The government's action must have a secular legislative purpose;
2. The government's action must not have the primary effect of either advancing or inhibiting religion;
3. The govt's action must not result in an "excessive government entanglement" with religion.

If any of these 3 prongs are violated, the government's action is deemed unconstitutional
under the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

Remember the infamous Hobby Lobby decision in 2014?

Are corporations entitled to the same legal rights and protections
granted to individuals living in the United States; including religious freedom?

The Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment

According to Chief Justice Morrison Waite (1886):
"The court does not wish to hear argument on the question
whether the provision in the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution,
which forbids a State to deny to any person within its jurisdiction
the equal protection of the laws, applies to these corporations.
We are all of the opinion that it does.
"

According to the Wikipedia article:
"This dictum, which established that corporations enjoyed personhood
under the Equal Protection Clause,
was repeatedly reaffirmed by later courts.
It remained the predominant view throughout the twentieth century,
though it was challenged in dissents
by justices such as Hugo Black and William O. Douglas.
"

So until the law is changed,
corporations will continue to enjoy the protection of the 14th Amendment ...

Another Christian judge ignores the Constitution ...

and finds excuses to allow a First Amendment violation

Here are a couple of excuses the judge gave
to justify his rape of the First Amendment:

"But not every religious symbol runs afoul
of the Establishment Clause of the United States Constitution …
Big Mountain Jesus is one of the only vestiges that remains
of the early days of skiing at Big Mountain,
and to many serves as a historical reminder of those bygone days of sack lunches,
ungroomed runs, rope tows, t-bars, leather ski boots, and 210 cm. skis.

Why do people need a religious statue to remind them of leather ski boots?
And why would a statue of Jesus remind them of leather ski boots?

Judge, these are important questions. Enquiring minds want to know.

The judge also argued that the statue would not cause someone
who is a “reasonable informed observer” to believe that
the government rather than a private party
endorses Christianity over any other faith or the absence of faith.

Why does the First Amendment now hinge
on what an informed observer thinks rather than on the law?

If that had been a statue of Mohammad (pbuh),
the judge would not have had time to issue a ruling
because he would have been out at the ski resort
on the first day of the trial, helping a work crew ...

remove the statue

The Kentucky legislature introduced a law
that would force the state’s Department of Homeland Security
to declare in its training materials
that security is unattainable without reliance on “Almighty God.”

American Atheists sued, pointing out
that this went against the state and federal Constitutions.
They won but were defeated by an Appeals Court on a 2-1 decision.
The state Supreme Court then refused to even look at the case.

Edwin Kagin, national legal director for American Atheists, said

"What’s really frightening about this is,
it’s increasingly clear that these people (proponents of such legislation)
want to establish the Christian religion,
and they’re getting more and more blatant about it all the time.
"

In America, religious freedom is for Christians only
(specifically - conservative Evangelicals).
The Trump administration grants protestants ...

religious domination over all other beliefs in foster care

"giving special permission to break federal and state law,
to a federally funded Protestant foster care agency in South Carolina,
using strict religious requirements to deny Jewish, Muslim, and Catholic parents
from fostering children in its network ...
The agency also rejects parents who are agnostic and atheist —
anyone who is not a Protestant Christian.
"

How is that even legal?

America is being dragged back into the Middle Ages ... with a whimper.

A Reverend explains the difference between
the freedom to practice your religion vs ...

your freedom to impose your religion on others

And while we are on the subject, here is a list of religious "freedoms"
that have been taken away from you:

holding humans in slavery;
corporeal punishment of children;
letting children die while waiting for God to heal them;
human and animal sacrifice;
burning witches;
stoning people to death for misdemeanors;
executing homosexuals, atheists, and people who work on weekends;
forcing rape victims to marry their rapists;
preventing women and gays from enjoying equal rights
such as voting, working, and marriage.

Try pulling any of those biblically-approved religious freedoms now
and you'll find yourself sharing a prison cell with Bubba ...

for the foreseeable future

Christians are constantly screaming "Freedom of Religion!"

And nearly every time they do, you can be sure
that they are either trying to hurt someone
or they are attacking someone else's freedom of religion.

In this case, threats by violent Christians,
who were furious over a lesson in Arabic
(that they did not understand) ...

force the closure of a high school in Virginia

In America, Christians prove over, and over, and over
that they believe that freedom of religion ...

is for Christians only

I guess God no longer has a taste for lamb

Usually we hear about Satanists killing and sacrificing innocent animals.
Yet here's an example of superstitious "modern" Christians
still living in The Dark Ages
and using an ancient, bloody, immoral book to guide their lives.

After their son's burial, they should all be brought up on animal abuse charges.

This bill actually makes sense:
They want the religious freedom to degrade and hurt their fellow citizens;
which is pretty much the way Christianity has operated for the past 2,000 years.

Christians fail to stop yoga instruction in public schools

I searched many news sources but could not find out
who was behind this lawsuit until I tried Reuters,
a London-based international news agency.
As I suspected, the complaint wasn't filed by atheists,
but by Christians who once again went out of their way
to demonstrate that religious freedom applies ... only to Christians.

Here is a quote that American media (like Fox News) didn't print:
Dean Broyles, the attorney who represents Stephen and Jennifer Sedlock,
whose two children opted out of yoga for physical education, said

"There is a consistent anti-Christian bias in these cases
and a pro-Eastern or strange religion bias.
"

So other religions are now called 'strange' religions?

(I guess so)

Less than 1% of students were taken out of the classes by their parents
showing that most Christians were level-headed.
However, there will always be that small percentage
that fall into the 'Westboro Baptist' category.

But it gets better.

As you might recall, during the fight over the Pledge of Allegiance,
Christians argued that students were not forced to recite "under God."
But remember the story of Jessica Ahlquist?
When she bravely fought to defend the First Amendment (and won),
her fellow students reacted by turning towards her
during the Pledge of Allegiance and screaming "under God!"
So opting out of Christianity will be punished.

So guess what the attorney, Broyles said?
"The parents claimed that children who opted out of the program faced bullying and teasing."

Do you really believe that students were bullied for not wanting to attend Yoga classes?

(hint: I would go with "no" on that one).

See the classic Christian double standard?

They claimed kids were not forced to recite "under God,"
yet bullied one student who refused.
Then they turn around and claim that kids are bullied ...
but produce no evidence to prove they were.

Classic Christian victimization technique

The "WAR" on Christmas

Every year Christians get apoplectic at Christmas.
They claim that atheists are trying to infringe on their religious freedoms.
Now for the truth.

I remember very well how this "war" started;
and it wasn't started by atheists but by Christians.

Retailers count on the Christmas season
to provide a larger than normal percentage of their yearly profits.
In America, 30% of the population is non-Christian.
Businesses cannot afford to ignore such a large segment of the population.
So they began replacing "Merry Christmas"
with phrases like "Happy Holidays," "Season's Greetings," etc.

At some point (I don't remember exactly when) Christians attacked.
They started boycotting businesses that didn't say "Merry Christmas."
THAT is how the "War on Christmas" really began.

As they always do, first Christians attack,
and then when people try to defend themselves,
Christians play the victim and scream "religious discrimination!"

Freedom of Religion?

In Tennessee, that only applies to Christians

Christians scream because Tennessee governor hires a Muslim

But wait - There's more!

Judge grants mosque petition

After all the criticisms these Tennessee Christians leveled at Muslims
did you catch this part:
"Citing acts of vandalism, arson and a bomb threat
against the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro ....
"

Let's ask Jesus for His opinion on this one ...
"Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye;
and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
"
Matthew 7:5

I just love quoting scripture to Conservative Christians.
Nothing shows them for the h-y-p-o-c-r-i-t-e-s they really are
quite as much as rubbing their faces in their own holy book.

20 states, and the Federal Government,
have recently passed "religious freedom" laws.
These are NOT religious freedom laws.
We already have a religious freedom law
(it is called The First Amendment).

What these laws really are, are religious privilege laws.
They extend religious freedom (which we already have)
by legalizing religious discrimination.
But you can bet your bottom dollar
that these privileges only apply to Conservative Christians.
Let Muslims try to exercise their "sincerely held" beliefs (like Sharia) ...
and watch how quickly Conservative Christians dump their religious freedom arguments.
